Customer Reviews Analysis
vastly better on almost every front in my experience and I would expect the AS1102T to perform admirably on such hardware. With all that said, my AS1102T has been tested on a gigabit network and I got speeds hovering around the 110MB/s mark when reading and writing simultaneously. Keep in mind, the internal architecture of this device is a D525 dual-core Intel Atom CPU running at 1.8GHz. Processor power is likely the bottleneck in this scenario and pretty much any 2-bay NAS at this price point will have similar limitations.Sturdiness and build quality are good overall, but the door that covers the drives and ports is quite annoying as it has no magnets or latches to hold it shut. The rest of the chassis is solid and well designed which does inspire some confidence. One more minor thing to mention is that the drive trays require screws to attach drives. This is definitely not as convenient as some other designs which feature tool-less drive trays. Again, it’s a minor gripe but one that many will find annoying nonetheless. If you’re considering purchasing an Asustor AS1102T, remember that no NAS is a backup plan in itself. It should just be a part of a solid backup strategy as well as a method to share your files across multiple devices in a safe and secure manner. Overall, this NAS stands up well against similarly priced competition from the likes of Synology and QNAP and it manages to offer a surprising number of features in a very usable package. Just be aware of the limitations regarding individual service access restrictions and you should be quite happy with the AS1102T.
